After successfully completing my degree in ‘Visual Communications’ in Birmingham where I specialised in photography I went on to work as assistant photographer at a busy still life studio in London. Surprisingly it was the city that sparked my enthusiasm in flower photography, as this was one of the studios specialties.
As a welcome break from 3 years in the city I spent a years working holiday in Australia with my partner. I sold my photographs as prints to various galleries and at art and craft exhibitions across the country, a wonderful way to meet people and see a breathtaking continent.
On return to Britain, still with a little wanderlust in our toes we moved to Devon where we lived in a peaceful cottage in the grounds of an old manor house surrounded by ancient woodland, banks of bluebells and secretive walled gardens.
I have now returned to my partner’s homeland of West Wales. The wide-open shorelines, wooded valleys, and mountains with their dramatic changes of light and colour create an exhilarating sense of freedom and are an endless source of inspiration for my work.
